Woman charged with battery of elderly man
At around 4 p.m. on Monday, September 9, deputies received a call from a concerned citizen about a possible battery of a Cut Off man who is over 70 years old. Deputies made contact with the man and immediately noticed him to have a black eye.
Through investigation, deputies learned Carmen Collazo, 48, who has been living with the man, struck him in the face during an argument. Deputies met with Collazo who refused to cooperate with the investigation. She was placed under arrest for cruelty to the infirmed and was transported to the Detention Center where she was booked accordingly.
Collazo’s bond was set at $5,000 for the incident, but she is currently being held in lieu of $24,500 bond due to a bond surrender on previous charges stemming from an incident in April 2013. She has also been ordered to stay away from the victim.
