A mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, July 1 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off for Wayne James “Hippie” Plaisance, 58, a native and resident of Cut Off, who passed away on June 19, 2014.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. till 9 p.m. on Monday, June 30 at Samart Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off and on Tuesday, July 1 from 9 a.m. till 11 a.m. service at the church with burial at Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano.
He is survived by wife of 7 years, Dana Plaisance; parents, Anna Mae Plaisance and Jimmie Plaisance; sons, Justin and Joshua Peninger; daughters, Tierany Plaisance and Ashley Gaudet; grandchildren, Charis and Gage Peninger, Andrew Gaudet; sisters, Jennifer and Lisa Plaisance.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Waldo and Gladys Cheramie and Lucien and Beulah Plaisance; granddaughter, Lauren Gros.
He was a lifelong worker on tug boats and was a jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and woodworking. He loved his grandchildren and was a loving husband and father that will be sadly missed.
