Wallace Center To Host Community Health And Wellness Day Saturday
The Wallace Center in Raceland will be hosting a Community Health and Wellness Day on Saturday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to center director Heather Benoit.
Benoit said representatives from Blue Cliff College in Houma will be conducting wellness exams and performing physicals, glucose, diabetes and blood pressure tests.
“A healthy lunch will be provided to all that attend,” she said. “Community members of all ages are encouraged to come out and take advantage of these assessments that can help their well-being.”
Along with hosting regular weekend activities for children and adults, the Wallace Center at 3603 Highway 308, has served as the site for a program called Beyond the Bell.
For the last month, Benoit and several dedicated volunteers have spent their afternoons assisting local Raceland youth with their homework along with providing enrichment activities after school.
Beyond the Bell, which takes place Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., has seen an average of 35 children attending the program on a daily basis.
Benoit said she welcomes anyone interested in volunteering their time to this worthwhile program to email her at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit Facebook at facebook.com/beyondthebellraceland for more information.
