Unidentified men accost teenage girl
Just after 8:30 p.m. on Friday, August 16, deputies were dispatched to East 7th Street in Larose in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies were advised that a teenage female had been walking on East 5th Street, heading toward East 7th Street, when she was approached by a car with five Hispanic male subjects inside.
Deputies learned some of the men were allegedly making suggestive comments to the teenager and at one point allegedly reached their arm out toward her. Feeling threatened, the teenage female fled the area and arrived safely at a relative’s home.
Detectives were called to the scene to assist in the investigation. They questioned three subjects found riding in a vehicle similar to the description of the car the men were driving. Detectives determined the three men were not involved in the incident and were released.
The investigation into this case is ongoing.
In a separate incident, on the afternoon of Friday, August 23, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC) to assist in an operation wherein a grocery store on East 7th Street was allegedly selling alcohol without a state liquor license. Following the ATC operation, it was determined the store was, in fact, selling alcohol without a license, and the ATC issued a citation.
