Transportation to be topic of governor’s campaign forum
The first of many forums to be held in conjunction with the Louisiana governor’s race is slated for this week. As the highlight of the 2015 Critical Issues Summit, hosted by a variety of engineering and contracting associations, the four major candidates for governor have agreed to speak on January 16 in Baton Rouge at the Renaissance Hotel at 10 a.m.
Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle, Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne, State Representative John Bel Edwards and U.S. Senator David Vitter will address attendees about transportation and infrastructure needs facing the state, including the always critical underlying issues of how to fund these needs as well as upkeep and improvements to current roads and bridges.
The election for governor is slated for October. Governor Bobby Jindal is term limited and cannot seek re-election.
