Three students in custody after bomb scare at high school
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre and Lafourche Parish Public Schools Superintendent Jo Ann Matthews announced three Central Lafourche High School students are in custody following a bomb scare at the school Tuesday.
The school was placed on lockdown for a short time Tuesday morning after a note was found in a boy's restroom at the school which stated, “There will be a bombing at 12:00.”
Detectives identified three male students (ages 14-15), as the suspects in the incident, and all three were taken into custody at the school without incident.
Detectives determined the threat was not credible. Each of the boys was charged with Communicating of False Information of Planned Bombing on School Property (R.S. 14:54.6), and they were placed at the Lafourche Parish Juvenile Justice Facility in Thibodaux. Disciplinary action from school officials is also pending.
