Thibodaux teen dies in 16-story fall from Ala beach condo

Police say a Louisiana teenager from Thibodaux died after falling 16 stories into the pool at a beachfront condominium in Alabama.

Orange Beach police say 18-year-old Challenge Talbot, a graduate of E.D. White Catholic School, was found dead about 3:45 a.m. Friday morning.

Authorities say Talbot fell from a balcony on the 16th floor at Turquoise Place Condominiums and landed in the water. The average height of a building story is 10 feet, which means Talbot fell about 160 feet, or the width of a football field.

According to police, Talbot was staying in an apartment at the condo with friends, who have no idea of what happened. No one saw him fall, or jump.

A couple walking by the pool found the body.

Police say there were no witnesses, but they're still investigating. Authorities plan an autopsy and toxicology results are pending.

Talbot was a member of the E.D. White boys swim team
