The Well Armed Woman Begins Chapter In The Bayou Region
The Well Armed Woman, LLC is pleased to announce the creation of a local chapter of the organization for the Bayou Region area. The Well Armed Woman Bayou Region Shooting Chapter will give women of all experience levels the opportunity to be introduced to issues important to women shooters, learn safe gun handling skills and train together.
Gun ownership and the complex laws surrounding the use of firearms is a significant topic around the nation. A 2011 Gallop Poll reported 47 percent of American adults currently have a gun in their home and 23 percent of women personally own a firearm. This reported gun ownership is the highest it has been in nearly two decades, and women are the largest growing segment of this historically male-dominated demographic.
With the number of women now owning firearms at such high levels, women are eager to learn and practice with other women, and for a woman new to shooting, the very male driven industry can be intimidating.
The Well Armed Woman is a national organization whose local chapters create opportunities for women who are new to shooting to practice and learn in a friendly environment.
The Well Armed Woman Bayou Region Shooting Chapter is being spearheaded by Adrianna Gernon Eschete, a local female gun enthusiast. Events will be held monthly and open to all women 21 years of age or older.
The Well Armed Woman Bayou Region Shooting Chapter has partnered with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office to host monthly meetings at their Shooting Range Facility located at 3451 Highway 182 in Raceland, Louisiana. Time will be devoted to discussion and topical study as well as time on the range learning and practicing safe gun handling skills at each monthly event.
Annual chapter membership dues of $50 offer members local and national discounts, as well as a chapter hat and member kit, and are used to cover chapter expenses, insurance and events. Participants are required to pay any applicable range fees and provide their own ammunition and firearms.
The first meeting and shoot is scheduled for Thursday, November 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the LPSO Shooting Range Facility. First-time attendees are not required to join.
