Please allow me to take this opportunity to share our gratitude to those locally who assisted in the planning and actual participation at the Leeville Arts & Heritage Festival 2015.
Many thanks to the main Lafourche Parish Library. Paul Chiquet, Trina Holcomb, and other staff members are to be commended for their contributions to our event.
I would also like to recognize Mrs. Peggy Bagala of Les Reflections du Bayou and her son, Buddy Bagala, for their generosity.
T-Boy Charpentier and his Pig Spinner Krewe were also very much appreciated.
Last, but not least, I am very thankful for the help of Tammy Loupe of Lockport and Golden Meadow Councilman Bap Lorraine.
Twenty-one volunteers came from outside of Lafourche Parish to assist in the preparations and cleanup required to host this event. Sponsors were recognized in printed material, radio advertising, social media, and or event T-shirts, (you know who you are).
This year's winners of the cooking competitions are:
Shrimp Boulette: Bobby Guidry, 1st place; T-Boy Charpentier, 2nd place; and Connie Chouest, 3rd place;
Gratons: Albert Mahler, 1st place; Bengi Gisclair, 2nd place; and Jimmy Rabalais, 3rd place.
Thanks to our judges, Larry Griffin, Lin Kiger, and Lonnie Granier.
Mr. Hayes Melancon was crowed King of Leeville and his sister, Madelyn Melancon was crowned Miss Leeville 2015.
Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Captain Calvin Dufrene. Fishing Icon Awards were given to Vernon Robichaux and the family of his brother, Larry Robichaux.
Many others did their part to make the festival a success including RJ & Jay Paul Molinere of Swamp People.
Most importantly, for our heavenly Father, for blessing us with beautiful weather!
