Suspected drug dealer arrested during traffic stop in Cut Off

A suspected drug dealer and his passenger were arrested during a traffic stop in Cut Off Tuesday.

Alton Guidry, 36, of Lockport and Trent Sanamo, 40, of Katy, Texas, were found to have drugs in their possession. Guidry also had an outstanding warrant for meth distribution.

On January 29, narcotics agents observed Alton Guidry driving his truck on LA Highway 1 in Cut Off. Due to Guidry having an active warrant for Distribution of Methamphetamine, agents conducted a traffic stop in the area of West 79th Street. Guidry was immediately taken into custody without incident. Agents discovered paraphernalia in the truck which belonged to Guidry. Sanamo was found to have methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in his possession.

Both were placed under arrest and transported initially to the South Lafourche Sub-station for booking. Upon arrival, Guidry denied having any contraband on his person. During a strip search, Guidry was found to have suspected heroin and three pills listed as Schedule III controlled substances.

Guidry was charged with Possession of Heroin, Drug Paraphernalia, and a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance. He was also charged with Taking Contraband to a Penal Institution, and he was booked on the warrant for Distribution of Methamphetamine. His bond is set at $39,500.

Sanamo was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia. His bond is set at $2,000.
