Search for man knocked off rig S of La coast
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Coast Guard says it is looking for a Filipino man missing in the Gulf of Mexico after an accident on a rig about 55 miles from the Louisiana coast between Lake Charles and Baton Rouge.
Petty Officer Carlos Vega says a report to the Coast Guard says 38-year-old Peter Voces was knocked over by a barrel while working for a Houma contractor Sunday evening on a rig south of Freshwater Bayou. He said Monday that he didn't know any details about the accident or where in the Philippines the man is from.
The Coast Guard sent two cutters, two airplanes and two helicopters to look for Voces. It says six offshore supply vessels also are searching.
