Rotary Club hosting annual Shrimp Boil Off Saturday
The Rotary Club of Golden Meadow is once again hosting its annual Shrimp Boil Off this Saturday at the Oakridge Community Park in Golden Meadow.
This celebration of local music and the shrimp industry is one way that the Rotary Club of Golden Meadow shares fellowship with the community.
The club has planned an all you can eat shrimp boil for festival goers along with popular bands in the area. Shrimp will be served from 11 a.m. until it’s gone.
Shrimp boiling teams will vie for the title of best tasting shrimp.
Admission is $15 per person. Children twelve and under get in free. Hamburgers, chili dogs, nachos and cheese, homemade custard pies and beverages will also be available for purchase.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Rockin’ Dopsie and Booze Brothers beginning at 7 p.m.
Also appearing will be the Carl Dufrene Band and Friends with special guest Benjamin Bruce, performing rocking oldies to honor the memory of Mr.Vin Bruce, along with other musicians performing throughout the day.
Since the club’s charter was awarded in 1943, the Golden Meadow Rotary Club has accomplished some amazing things throughout the community with the funds raised at events like this one. The club made improvements to the playground and park in Golden Meadow, adding rubber padding around the playground equipment, three lighted tennis courts and a basketball court.
The club also awards scholarships to students from South Lafourche High School attending Nicholls State University, donates money, books, and their time to local schools, and also participates in numerous international projects.
Everyone is invited to join in the festivities at the Golden Meadow Park this Saturday, October 6 to eat their fill of boiled shrimp, buy something from the auction and dance to great music.
