Restore/Retreat hosting dinner, discussion on flood risk

Storms … flooding … land loss … all facts of life in Lafourche. Are you at risk?

Join Restore or Retreat for a community conversation to learn more about your flood risk and how to better protect your family and your home or business on Tuesday, February 24, at the Larose Civic Center, 307 E. 5th Street.

An Open House will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. with dinner and discussion from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

If you plan to attend, please RSVP by February 13 to ror.rsvp@gmail.com or by calling 985-448-4963 or 985-448-4963.

What can you expect? Representatives from Restore or Retreat, LSU Ag Center, LA Sea Grant, UNO CHART, the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security, and Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority will be on-hand to share resources for protecting yourself and your loved ones.

You can get information on your flood insurance map, building in coastal areas, and available funding sources for elevating your home.

In addition, organizers will be testing a new interactive flood risk viewer that offers the state’s most detailed information about flood risk and how this may change in the future. Be the first to try it out!

Are you vulnerable to storms or flooding? What can you do to protect yourself? What resources are most helpful for you? These are the types of questions that will be addressed in casual tabletop conversations.

Dinner will be provided by Restore or Retreat, along with door prizes for a few lucky participants. Reserve your spot now!
