Raceland American Legion, Unit 349 monthly meeting report
The regular monthly meeting of the Raceland American Legion Auxiliary was held at the Post home with President Betty Cavalier presiding.
The Unit draped its charter in memory of members Wilma Dubois, Marie Guidry and Judy Danos, who all died recently. The officers read prayers and members prayed for them.
The Unit voted to give a $50 gift certificate to the Raceland Senior Center for their raffle.
A bingo party was given for the residents at the Raceland Manor.
The membership chairman reported that 169 members paid their dues for the year and encouraged the others to pay them as soon as possible.
The Unit donated $100 to the Louisiana WAHOO, a boy’s baseball team consisting of kids from Lafourche/Terrebonne Parish to help with their expenses.
A card and check was sent to Anne Comeaux, the Gold Star mother, in observance of Gold Star Month.
The Unit sent a package of goodies to Colton Smither, a local veteran who is stationed in Afghanistan. Members will send him cards and letters.
Auxiliary member Rosalie Knobloch and her husband Roland attended the American Legion National Convention. She gave an informative report on the things that took place at the convention.
The Raceland Post 349 hosted the Third District Fall Conference held at the Quality Inn in Houma on October 3-5. Officers and members from the different post in the district were in attendance. The American Legion National Commander, Michael Helm, attended the conference along with State Commander, Billy Ray Foley and other District Commanders and dignitaries from the area. The Auxiliary, SALS and Junior Auxiliary also held very informative and educational meetings at this time.
