Prosecutor to seek death penalty against man accused in triple murder
Lafourche Parish District Attorney Cam Morvant II said Thursday that he will seek the death penalty against a man accused of killing a Lockport woman and her two young children, according to the Daily Comet.
David Brown, age 35, of Houma and Texas, is accused of stabbing to death Jacqueline Nieves, 29, Gabriela, 7, and Izabela, 20 months at their apartment in Lockport in November, 2012.
He is also accused of the sexual battery of Jacquelin and Gabriela Nieves, according to documents read aloud in court Thursday morning.
The Public Defender's Office hired attorneys Dylan Utley and Jeffrey Smith to represent Brown, both private attorneys with experience representing defendants facing the death penalty.
