Parish to stay on top of Ebola Virus outbreaks

Lafourche Parish Government and the Office of Emergency Preparedness want to let local residents know they are working with the Department of Health and Hospitals as well as the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness to monitor the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the event a case presents itself in Louisiana.

To date, there have been no reports of EVD entering the state and officials are urging residents to remain calm, but vigilant.

In an effort to present the latest information and facts regarding EVD, the Department of Health and Hospitals in conjunction with the Louisiana Office of Public Health have released a community Power Point presentation detailing what is currently known about the disease, which originated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo near the Ebola River in 1976.

To view the Power Point, visit lafourchegov.org and click on the FAQs About The Ebola Virus link located in the rotator box.
