Parish to accept donations for flood victims
Parish President Jimmy Cantrelle and Lafourche Parish Government announce that beginning today, August 15, donations are being accepted for flood victims of the unprecedented floods in neighboring parishes.
“Through a coordinated effort with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office and the City Of Thibodaux, Lafourche Parish is pleased to assist our neighbors in need,” said Cantrelle.
Donations will be accepted at the Mathews Government Complex, 4876 LA Hwy. 1, Mathews. Hours for drop off are 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. beginning August 15 and continuing until further notice.
Donations of non-perishable food items and goods, household paper products, cleaning supplies, disposable diapers, bottled water, pet supplies and blankets are being accepted. Clothes are NOT being accepted at this time. Other drives are undertaking this effort and you may want to contact the American Red Cross for clothes drop off locations.
Businesses and individuals are encouraged to bring any donation to the Mathews complex for delivery, as the parish is coordinating with the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) for delivery to the victims of the impacted region.
Any monetary donations should be given through the American Red Cross.
