Parish Shows Support For Police By Designing Decal
Given everything they do for the local communities they serve, officials with Lafourche Parish Government decided to show their support for police by designing a decal.
These decals, which have been placed on the driver’s side of all parish vehicles, feature a Fleur-de-lis shape, which is an image that has become a mainstay in south Louisiana and is actually the official state symbol, per a bill signed into law by Governor Bobby Jindal in 2008.
The wording, “We Support Our Police,” can be found encircling the solid black Fleur-de-lis that has a blue stripe stretching across its middle section.
“When you think about all the dangers police officers face day in and day out, plus a recent uptick in violence against police officers, the parish just wanted to do something to tell them we appreciate them,” Parish Administrator Archie Chaisson said.
A small number of these decals have been made available through Southern Signs and Designs in Thibodaux for anyone interested in purchasing one of them. The decals, which cost $4 each, should be available for purchase by the end of next week, according to Chaisson.
