Parish Officials Warn of Possible Scam Involving the Solicitation of Funds

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre and Lafourche Parish President Jimmy Cantrelle want to caution residents about misleading solicitations regarding the Lafourche Parish Animal Shelter. Several residents have reportedly received phone calls and mail solicitations wherein the caller/sender is asking for funding and suggesting that the money help fund the Lafourche Parish Animal Shelter.

The Lafourche Parish Animal Shelter is operated and maintained by Lafourche Parish Government through funding provided in the annual budget. Lafourche Parish Government does not solicit any additional funding from residents by phone or otherwise. Anyone who receives a phone call or correspondence wherein funds are being solicited on behalf of the Lafourche Parish Animal Shelter should consider it a scam and report it to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office at (985) 448-2111.
