Other Parish Council action taken on Tues., Nov. 27

In other action from Tuesday, November 27, Lafourche Parish Council public meeting (all members present and votes unanimous unless noted):

-- Passed an ordinance approving a property lease agreement between the parish and Chuck and Elizabeth Comeaux for property acquired through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program;

-- Heard a proposed ordinance to de-obligate the balance of funds in the LA Highway 308 Road and Drainage Improvements project;

-- Passed a resolution engaging the firm of Postlewaite and Netterville to perform the 2018 audit;

-- Passed a resolution asking for state legislation to designate the Lafourche parish Game and Fish Commission as a Parish Board;

-- Passed a resolution reappointing Larry Raymond and George St. Pierre to the Veteran’s Memorial District of Ward 10 Board;

-- Passed a resolution approving a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement between the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services and the parish to assist low income families to obtain benefits;

-- Passed a resolution approving Duplantis Design Group for architect services for the Thibodaux Branch Library Additions and Renovations Project (Lafont voted nay);

-- Passed two resolutions approving receipt of Community Services Block Grant funds to provide assistance to low income families (Lorraine, Jones and Sposito voted nay on both resolutions);

-- Passed a resolution to renew the agreement between the parish and Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services to provide commercial general liability, auto liability, public officials and employers liability, cyber and privacy liability, excess workers compensation, hull and P & I, marine pollution, aviation liability and crime coverage;

-- Passed a resolution approving an agreement between the parish and Laris Insurance Agency to provide commercial property, scheduled equipment/inland marine, and boiler and machinery coverage (Lorraine voted nay, Melvin abstained);

-- Passed a resolution supporting the submittal of a 2018 Flood Mitigation Assistance Grant Program Application to the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness for funding to elevate flood-prone homes throughout the parish.
