Listed below is other action of interest from the Lafourche Parish Council public meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 9. (All members were present and votes were unanimous except where noted):

-- Heard a presentation by Timothy Bush, Lafourche Tourist Commission President on tourism in 2017 and to provide insight and expectations for 2018

-- Passed an ordinance adjusting year-end projections for the 2017 Operations and Maintenance Budget

-- Passed an ordinance to de-obligate funds from the completed Bayou Lafourche Saltwater Control Structure Project

-- Moved a proposed ordinance to require that all parish vehicles be required to display the Lafourche Parish Government logo and vehicle numbers as well as to display the Parish bumper sticker with contact information and amend the Code of Ordinances to create those requirements

-- Moved a proposed ordinance approving the holding of a special tax election in Fire Protection District No. 3

-- Moved two proposed ordinances approving agreements between Parish Government and other entities for the Airport Access Corridor—LA Hwy. 308 Turn Lane/Airport Access Road

-- Passed a resolution requesting the Lafourche Parish District Attorney to investigate the building of the Bayou Blue Water Park without permits and to ascertain who authorized the contractor to proceed (James Bourgeois voted “nay”)

-- Passed a resolution requesting the Lafourche Parish District Attorney to render an opinion as to whether Council Members can hire or supervise civil service employees, and what is the violation if a Council Member interferes with an Administrative function (Daniel Lorraine voted “nay”)

-- Passed a resolution requesting the Administration to outline the procedure for creating budget amendments and de-obligations (Bourgeois and Lorraine voted “nay”)

-- Passed a resolution creating the “Outstanding Citizens Award” Program (Bourgeois “nay”)

-- Passed a resolution approving Amendment No. 2 for engineering design services for the Lockport Community Center (Bourgeois and Lorraine “nay”)

-- Passed a resolution approving an agreement for services between the Parish and South Louisiana Economic Council for fiscal year 2018 including $25,000 service fees

-- Passed a resolution accepting the low bid of Tidewater Dock, Inc. for $287,000 for the demolition of the Chevron Bridge
