Listed below is action taken at the Lafourche Parish Council meeting from Tuesday, May 8:

-- Council overrode three ordinances vetoed by Parish President Jimmy Cantrelle requiring representatives from the Departments of Finance and Public Works to present monthly reports to the Council, and to terminate the contract between Cantrelle and Attorney James Cobb, Jr. (Vote was 7-0 with Bourgeois and Lorraine absent.)

-- Heard an update on the status of a lawsuit concerning the Choctaw Levee

-- Passed an ordinance establishing “Watch for Children” and “Children at Play” signs on East 158th Street in Galliano. (Vote was 7-0 with Lafont and Jones absent.)

-- Heard numerous proposed ordinances dealing with the levying and imposing of property taxes for 2018

-- Heard a proposed ordinance requesting “No Dumping of Trash, Waste or Debris--$500 Fine” signs to be posted in Leeville near the exit ramp of the elevated highway to Fourchon

-- Heard a proposed ordinance authorizing the Parish to purchase a tract of land in Lockport for $458,000

-- Passed several resolutions appointing members to the Home Rule Charter Revision Committee. (Vote was 5-2 with Bourgeois and Lorraine against, and Jones and Lafont absent.)

-- Passed a resolution ratifying the re-appointment of Ray Collins to the Lafourche Parish Civil Service Board (unanimous)

-- Passed a resolution approving an amendment to the Lafourche Parish Multiyear Implementation Plan as mandated by the Restore Act (unanimous)

-- Reappointed Lawrence Mounic to the Fire Protection District No. 3 Board (unanimous)

-- Reappointed Nicole Lundberg to the Coastal Zone Management Advisory Committee (unanimous)

-- Approved a settlement agreement between the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and Lafourche Parish Government regarding the Choctaw Levee (unanimous)
