Nicholls running back Washington out for season
THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — Nicholls State coach Charlie Stubbs says a knee injury has knocked running back Marcus Washington out of the rest of his senior season.
The 2011 All-Southland player from Lillian, Ala., was injured in the Colonels' 33-21 win against Northwestern State. He had rushed for a career-high three touchdowns, finishing with 77 yards on 23 carries in just over three quarters of play.
Washington ranks fifth in the Southland in rushing with 68.8 yards per game and 413 yards on 96 carries. He is second in scoring with nine touchdowns and ranks in the top 10 in the Southland in receptions per game (4.0) and all-purpose yards (106.0). A dual-threat back, Washington led Nicholls in receptions through the first six games, recording 24 for 223 yards and two touchdowns.
