Nicholls Culinary Students Master Skills In Augusta
The Chef John Folse Culinary Institute at Nicholls State University is sending 35 students to the annual U.S. Masters golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia, where the students will spend their spring break preparing meals for some of the country's top golfers.
The Nicholls culinary students are expected to leave the university's campus on Thursday, April 2 and return on Monday, April 13. During their weeklong stint at the Masters, the students will work 10-12-hour shifts preparing 1,200-1,500 meals daily at the 90,000-square-foot Berckmans Place hospitality facility. The experience will provide students with the highly coveted opportunity to work alongside respected professionals in the culinary industry.
In April 2014, the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute sent 36 Nicholls students to the prestigious golf tournament. One student later completed a culinary externship in Augusta in preparation of the 2015 Masters tournament.
