Nereids Announces Royalty
The Krewe of Nereids hosted a member only dinner and party recently to present this year’s royalty. Reigning over this year’s krewe will be Queen Nereids XXXII Desiree Bodin of Golden Meadow.
Desiree is the fiancé of Stephen Banegas of New Orleans and the daughter of George and Sherry Bodin of Galliano. She is a graduate of South Lafourche High School, Nicholls State University and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s P.O.S.T. Academy.
Desiree is currently employed by the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office as a Field Training Officer in the Patrol Division.
The parade will roll on Sunday, February 7 at 6 p.m. through the Town of Golden Meadow on its traditional route along LA Hwy. 1.
This year’s theme will be “Nereids Rocks the Night”.
Members will be riding single and double decker beautifully illuminated floats throwing thousands of beads, trinkets and signature throws.
This all-female night krewe was the first in Lafourche Parish and are very proud of the fact that they will forever hold this title.
The krewe’s Board of Directors, along with all krewe members invite everyone to come out and enjoy a fun filled night.
