Mississippi Man Arrested for Impeding Traffic, Resisting Officers on State Highway in Golden Meadow
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre and Golden Meadow Police Chief Reggie Pitre announced a Mississippi man was arrested after he was found impeding the flow of traffic on a state highway. Deangelo Terrell, 28, of Shubuta, Mississippi, faces multiple charges following the incident.
Just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, deputies were dispatched to assist with a male subject walking in the northbound lanes of LA Highway 3235 just inside the town limits of Golden Meadow. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the man talking on a cell phone and began to approach him. As deputies approached, the man continued walking in the lanes of travel, and he was making erratic movements, avoiding deputies, and failing to comply with deputies' commands. Golden Meadow police officers arrived to assist, and as deputies attempted to escort the man off the roadway, he resisted and attempted to fight off deputies.
Deputies utilized a Taser, and the man was taken into custody. Deputies identified the man as Deangelo Terrell of Mississippi, and he was placed in the rear seat of a patrol unit. While sitting in the rear seat, Terrell damaged the rear door of the patrol unit.
Terrell was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked with obstructing public passages, resisting an officer with force or violence, battery of a police officer, and simple criminal damage to property.
He was released after posting $4,350 bond as set by Judge F. Hugh Larose.
