Man sought for attempting to use counterfeit money in Larose

Suspect who attempted to use a fake $100 bill was caught on surveillance footage.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of a man wanted for attempting to use phony money to pay for gas at a Larose convenience store.

At around 6:30 a.m. on Friday, February 21, deputies responded to Go-Bear's Convenience Store at 12106 Highway 1 in Larose in reference to a customer attempting to use a counterfeit bill to pay for gas. When the clerk discovered the bill was fake, she stopped the man and handed it back to him. He then tore the bill in half, handed it back to the clerk and fled the scene. The black male suspect was driving an older model Ford F-150 pickup track which was tan in color.

Detectives are trying to determine the identity of the subject whose image was captured on a surveillance camera.

Anyone who can identify the man is asked to contact Bayou Region Crime Stoppers. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000 in cash if the information given leads to an arrest. Tips can be submitted through any one of these methods:
