Lottery turns $45.2 million over to state for 3rd quarter
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Louisiana Lottery Corporation says it turned over more than $45.2 million to the state treasury for the third quarter of the state's 2014-2015 fiscal year.
The corporation said Wednesday that transfers for the year come to nearly $121 million.
Thirty-five percent of Lottery proceeds are transferred to the state treasury and dedicated for K-12 public education.
Retailers earn a 5 percent sales commission on Lottery tickets, plus incentives for cashing winning tickets and bonuses for selling winning tickets.
