Local high school bands are repeated winners
The Annual Louisiana Showcase of Marching Bands State Championship was held on Saturday, November 3 at University of Louisiana in Lafayette. There were 33 marching bands from the state competing for the Grand State Champion Title.
From these 33 bands, 10 bands earning the highest points were chosen to compete again. Two Lafourche Parish bands, Central Lafourche High School Trojan Lancer Band and South Lafourche High School Tarpon Band were in the chosen top 10. These two bands were also recent grand champ winners in a previous competition.
Neither Central Lafourche or South Lafourche won the grand state champion title at this event, but they did place. The Grand State Champion title went to Lafayette High School. Central Lafourche High School Trojan Lancer Band placed 4th. Their show title was “Ninja”. Their band directors are Willie Martin and Leigh Stewart. Their drum major is Shea’ Toups.
South Lafourche High School Tarpon Band placed 7th. Their show title was “Diztorted Reality”. Their band directors are Randy Chiasson and Jared Boudreaux. Their drum majors are Matthew Guillot and Jessica Dang.
These two bands have to be complimented on their performances, as their members are truly excellent, dedicated, and hard working young students. They represented the area in a most admirable way.
Congratulations to both groups.
