Local bands win big at music competition
Two Lafourche Parish high school bands won grand champion awards at the annual Fete De Musique held at Central Lafourche High School on Saturday, October 27. There were thirteen high school bands performing.
In Class AAA, Central Lafourche High School Trojan Lancer Band won grand champs with awards for best music, best visual and best auxiliary. They also received the James Trant Overall Outstanding Music Award and the Overall Outstanding Visual Award.
In Class AA, South Lafourche High School Tarpon Band won grand champs with awards for best music, best visual and best percussion.
In other classes and parishes, the grand champs winners were Destrehan High School and Parkway High School.
Too little recognition is often given to high school bands who consists of dedicated and hard working students who should be praised and appreciated more.
