Learn How 'Art Works' At Nicholls Art Fundraiser
The Nicholls State University Department of Art will host its annual Art Works fundraiser at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, in Talbot Hall on the university's Thibodaux campus.
Now in its second year, Art Works features artwork by community-based artisans and Nicholls art students, who also offer demonstrations of techniques like forging, metal pouring, printmaking and Japanese Sumi-e painting. Art students will also be on hand to guide tours of the art studios and to assist attendees in creating their own pottery and silkscreen prints.
Art Works benefits the students of the Nicholls Department of Art by providing scholarship opportunities, student development activities and art studio equipment. Attendees may purchase pieces from both student and local artist exhibits. A silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind artwork will also take place.
The event is open to adults, as well as individuals ages 15-17 accompanied by an adult. Admission is $50 for one, $100 for two or $175 for four. For tickets or additional information, call 985-448-4597.
