Emily Susan Sanchez is the 18-year-old daughter of Joe Sanchez and Jennifer Eymard Sanchez and sister of Matthew Sanchez. She is also the granddaughter of Susan Barrilleaux Eymard, Paul and Barbara Eymard and the late Flora B. Serigny.
Emily is a 2013 graduate of South Lafourche High School.
In October 2010, Emily was diagnosed with Restrictive Cardiomyopathy, a form of Cardiomyopathy in which the walls of the heart are stiff and is restricted from stretching and filling with blood properly. The only cure for this disease is a heart transplant.
Currently, Emily is in CNICU at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans and has been since July 3, 2013. According to her doctors she will remain there till she receives her new heart.

There will also be a luncheon and silent auction benefit for Emily Sanchez on Sunday, October 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Recreation Center in Galliano.
The menu is a ground beef spaghetti (cooked by Bob Faulk and Cookin Cousins), potato salad, corn and French bread for a donation of $7 a plate. Carry out and dine in.
