Oftentimes, we’ll find ourselves with injuries or illnesses that aren’t necessarily in need of an emergency room visit, but do need medical attention. With most physician clinics open only during business hours Monday – Friday, what is one to do when he or she needs medical attention after hours?
On August 1, Lafourche Urgent Care in Raceland opened its doors to the public and treated a record number of patients on Saturday and Sunday. The clinic is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and boasts on-site x-ray capabilities and laboratory services as well as the ability to treat broken bones, lacerations and other minor illnesses.
The physician team members include Adam Arcement, MD, Mary Breaux PA-C, Keith Hatch, PA-C and Stephen Lim, MD.
Dr. Arcement is a 1993 graduate of Central Lafourche High School and was born and raised in the area. He attended LSU Medical School in Shreveport and completed his residency training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Florida program In Jacksonville.
Dr. Lim, Keith Hatch, PA-C, Mary Breaux, PA-C and Dr. Arcement all worked together in the ER at Chabert Medical Center for several years. They were excited to come together as a group to open an Urgent Care Clinic for the residents of Lafourche.
“We are the only Urgent Care in Lafourche Parish that is owned and operated by board certified Emergency Medicine Physicians and Physician Assistants. Our medical team has years of training and experience working in some of the busiest ERs in the state, including Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, Terrebonne General, and Chabert Medical Center in Houma. This emergency medicine training and experience allows us to provide the community with the same level of expertise you would find in high-volume teaching hospitals,” said Dr. Arcement.
Lafourche Urgent Care offers the communities of Lafourche a much-needed complement to current medical services in the area. The highly experienced team has the necessary equipment, training and resources to treat minor illnesses and injuries at a patient’s convenience.
Patient services include school physicals, work physicals, sinus problems, allergies, cuts, bruises, burns, sprains, strains, colds, flu, fever, infections, fractures, ear and eye care, x-rays and labs.
Numerous insurances are accepted at Lafourche Urgent Care including Gilsbar, Aetna, BCBS, United, Tricare Standard, Medicare, Coventry, Humana, Cigna, Ochsner Health Plan and PPO Plus. For those without insurance, discounted self-pay rates are available.
Lafourche Urgent Care is locally owned and founded and is located at 4912 Hwy. 1 in Raceland, just steps away from Central Lafourche High School. It is located in the former office of Dr. Guillermo, who is now retired from his practice. Appointments are not necessary and patients can walk in anytime between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. seven days a week.
The clinic’s founders know that employees are critically important to their success. Lafourche Urgent Care has assembled an incredible team of experienced and personable ER trained nurses, certified x-ray technologists, and friendly, professional front desk staff to provide patients with a premium level of customer service.
“We are very optimistic that our clinic will be embraced by the community. We are always open to constructive criticism and feedback on how to improve the services we offer to the community and we are always happy to hear if you were treated with care and thoughtfulness at our clinic,” said Dr. Arcement.
Lafourche Urgent Care offers timely access to high-quality medical care when you can’t get in to see your doctor and is more much affordable than an ER visit.
