Lafourche Parish Water District No. 1 Boil Water Advisory
The Lafourche Parish Water District experienced a drop in water pressure in the North Raceland area due to a mainline leak. Because of this, the water in this area is of questionable microbiological quality. Therefore, as a precaution, the Lafourche Parish Water District is issuing a BOIL ADVISORY effective immediately for all customers in the following areas:
From the Lafourche Crossing south to the North Raceland Water Tank along LA Hwy 1 and LA Hwy 308.
The St. Charles community to include Lefort By-Pass Rd, St. Charles By-Pass Rd, Burma Rd & Bayou Blue By-Pass Rd.
The Upper Bayou Blue community from Bayou Bend Dr. north to the Bayou Blue By- Pass Rd.
This BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect until rescinded by the District.
It is recommended that all customers in the affected area should disinfect their water before consuming it, making ice, brushing teeth, using it for food preparation (including fountain drinks), and for rinsing food by the following means:
Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that boiled.)
Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise. The Lafourche Parish Water District will rescind this Boil Advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals – Office of Public Health after additional samples collected from our water supply have shown our water to be safe.
