Library branches in Lafourche will be hosting a variety of programs in November to honor the contributions of local veterans. Drop by your local library branch for these and to view the library’s veterans displays. All programs are free and open to the public.
Veterans and visitors are invited to the Gheens Branch Library, 153 N. Leon Drive, at 1 p.m. on November 7 in celebration of Veterans Day. Refreshments will be served.
Children of all ages can make a Veterans Day sailor in honor of local veterans at 4:15 p.m. on November 8 at the Golden Meadow Branch Library, 1403 N. Bayou Drive. Space is limited, so sign up early at the library to participate.
Veterans, their families, and friends are invited to a social in their honor at 12 p.m. on November 9 at the Larose Branch Library, 305 E. Fifth Street. Refreshments will be served.
The Lockport Branch Library, 720 Crescent Avenue, is celebrating Veterans Day with a special social for veterans and their families at 4:30 p.m. on November 8. Enjoy good company, food, photos, and stories.
Show your support for local veterans and military members by crafting a Veterans Day wreath for display at your home at 4 p.m. on November 8 at the Raceland Branch Library, 177 Recreation Drive.
Area veterans are invited to enjoy coffee, pastries, and other refreshments from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on November 9 at the South Lafourche Branch Library, 16241 E. Main Street, in Cut Off.
Animal Tales returns to the Lafourche Parish Public Library in November with Creepy Critters, an animal education program that centers on those less cuddly creatures whose importance in the natural world is often overlooked.
Animal Tales will visit the library’s three main branches during which children and their families can learn lots and get up close with some interesting creatures. This event will be held locally at the South Lafourche Library on November 20, 10:30 a.m. and the Lockport Library on November 20, 1 p.m.
Need a workout or workout partner? Get moving with Gheens Gets Movin’, a new workout program at the Gheens Branch Library, 153 N. Leon Drive. This program for adults will be held at 10 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Kick up your heels and have a ball with others at a free line dancing session at 1 p.m. on November 7 at the Larose Branch Library. Learn new line dances or practice old favorites. Dancers of all skill levels are welcome.
Guest artist Azalea Rivet will lead two art workshops for people of all ages at the Raceland Branch Library at 4 p.m. on November 14 and November 28.
Have your child’s fingerprints taken in case of an emergency and in observance of National Child Safety and Prevention Month from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on November 19 at the Golden Meadow Branch Library.
Members of the Lockport Police Department will visit the Lockport Branch Library to offer parents the opportunity to have their child’s fingerprints taken and other physical information added to their system in the event of an emergency. Stop by the library at 2 p.m. on November 20 to take part.
