Santa and Mrs. Claus are coming to town:
A favorite of both kids and adults is the annual visit of Mrs. Claus and/or Santa. Come visit and take a picture (bring your camera) while telling Mrs. Claus all she needs to tell Santa for you! Or you might get lucky and get to visit with Santa. Join us for story time and pictures with Mrs. Claus.
South Lafourche: Tuesday, Dec. 11, 4:30-5:30 p.m., all ages. Santa is coming!
Golden Meadow: Wednesday, Dec. 12, 4:30 p.m., all ages.
Lockport: Thursday, Dec. 13, 10:30 a.m., kid’s event.
Gheens: Tuesday, Dec. 18, 4-5 p.m., all ages.
Raceland: Tuesday, Dec. 18. 11 a.m., kid’s event.
Larose: Thursday, Dec. 20, 1 p.m., kid’s event.
Animal Tales’ Holiday Safari is coming to town, featuring six “surprise” animals, and making its way to libraries this December. In this interactive show, audience members are asked to solve riddles about the animals before their identities are revealed. Animal Tales then presents the animals to the audience and not only do you get to see these cool critters up close, you also get to learn some fun facts about them! You never know what kinds of amazing animals are going to show up in the Holiday Safari.
Audience members will get "hands-on" experience with several animals and will walk away with an appreciation and understanding of the role and importance of these animals to their ecosystem. At the South Lafourche Library on Friday, Dec. 28, 10:30 a.m., all ages; and Lockport on Friday, Dec. 28, 1 p.m., all ages.
From December 1st – January 31st participate in the1st Annual Winter Bingo Challenge. The idea is that participants have a blast reading books and attending library events. In exchange, they have the chance to win some fun prizes. For 4 age groups: adult, teen, child and young adult.
Read books, attend programs and do activities to finish the squares on your card. Complete bingo by crossing off all of the squares in a row, either across, down, or diagonally for a prize. Complete blackout to be entered into a drawing for a special prize. Two-card limit per player.
All prizes are provided by the South Lafourche Friends of the Library. Go to any branch to play.
Lafourche Library is honored to have been selected as the final stop on the American Conversations: Celebrating Poems in Rural Communities tour. Join in for a reception and reading of Ms. Tracy K. Smith, 22nd Poet Laureate of the United States, amazing work, Saturday, Dec. 15, at the South Lafourche Library, 16241 East Main, Cut Off, 10-11 a.m., reading of her poems.
Have you ever wanted to try an escape room? The library will have an Elf Escape room that will challenge young and adult minds alike at the South Lafourche Branch, on Saturday, Dec. 15th at 1 p.m.
Join in for a fun-filled time of games, crafts, and refreshments at the noon Year’s Eve Extravaganza count down celebration at the Golden Meadow Library, Dec. 27, 11 a.m.; Larose on Dec. 28, 12 noon, Ages 5-17; Lockport on Dec. 27, 4 p.m.; Raceland on Dec. 27, 2 p.m.; and South Lafourche Library, Dec. 29, 11 a.m.

Vox books are hardcover books with full audio recordings attached to the book cover. The Library has over 75 children’s books in this new format. Vox Books capture children’s attention by combining picture books with audio recordings. It makes learning and literacy development exciting! Studies show that read-along books improve reading comprehension. Visit either the Lockport or South Lafourche branches to see all they have to offer in this new and exciting book format.
