Animal Tales to return to Lafourche library branches: Enjoy more Animal Tales and up-close animal encounters when the animal educators return with Holiday Safari to the Lafourche Parish Public Library’s three main library branches. These programs, which are free and open to the public, will take place at at 1 p.m. on December 27 at the Lockport Branch Library, 720 Crescent Avenue; and 4 p.m. on December 27 at the South Lafourche Branch Library, 16241 E. Main Street, in Cut Off.
Santa, Mrs. Claus to visit Lafourche library branches: Santa and Mrs. Claus will make appearances at several branches of the Lafourche Parish Public Library during the holidays. Children can pass along their wish lists and families can take photos with Santa or Mrs. Claus. These programs are free and open to the public.
Golden Meadow Branch Library: Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit the Golden Meadow Branch Library, 1403 N. Bayou Drive. Mrs. Claus will visit the library at 4 p.m. on December 7, and Santa will make a stop beginning at 4:30 p.m. on December 13. Bring your camera for photos.
Lockport Branch Library: Mrs. Claus will lead children in a special holiday-themed story hour at 10:30 a.m. on December 8 at the Lockport Branch Library, 720 Crescent Avenue. Bring your camera for photos with Mrs. Claus.
South Lafourche Branch Library: Tell Santa what you’d like for Christmas when he visits the South Lafourche Branch Library, 16241 E. Main Street, in Cut Off from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on December 14. The library will provide a free photo with Santa at a later date.
Raceland Branch Library: The Raceland Branch Library, 177 Recreation Drive, will host its annual Christmas Caroling and Christmas Celebration beginning at 3 p.m. on December 20. Bring your camera to take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Gheens Branch Library: Children of all ages can take photos with Mrs. Santa, who will read stories to them, when she visits the Gheens Branch Library, 153 N. Leon Drive, at 4:30 p.m. on December 20 at the library.
Larose Branch Library: Mrs. Claus will visit the Larose Branch Library, 305 E. Fifth Street, at 11:30 a.m. on December 22 during a special holiday-themed story hour. Bring your camera for photos.
Lafourche library celebrating anniversary: The Lafourche Parish Public Library and its staff is celebrating the library system’s anniversary on Sunday, December 11. Join library staff members throughout December at several Lafourche library branches in observance of this anniversary.
Larose Branch Library: The Larose Branch Library will host an open house for visitors to celebrate the anniversary of the Lafourche Parish Public Library from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on December 7. Refreshments will be served.
Raceland Branch Library: The Raceland Branch Library invites community members to celebrate the Lafourche Parish Public Library’s anniversary this December with cupcakes and cookies, while supplies last, at 4 p.m. on December 9.
Lockport Branch Library: The Lockport Branch Library is celebrating the Lafourche Parish Public Library’s anniversary in December by asking Lockport residents to share their memories about the Lockport Branch and adding those to the library’s display from December 12 through December 16.
Write letters to Santa at the Gheens library: Children of all ages can write letters to Santa throughout the day on December 6 at the Gheens Branch Library. Children’s letters will be mailed to Santa.
Interested in gardening? Stop by the Lockport library: Watch demos and get tips for growing a great garden and giving your plants some T.L.C. with Lockport Branch Library staff member Rachel Maronge at 11 a.m. on December 13 at the library. Space is limited, so register by either calling the library at 532-3158 or stopping by.
Exchange books with others at the Larose library: Library visitors are invited to participate in a book gift exchange at the Larose Branch Library at 11 a.m. on December 14 in celebration of Read a New Book Month. Bring in an extra copy of one of your favorite new books to contribute to the gift exchange. Trading and swapping of gifts after the initial exchange is encouraged.
Take part in the library’s mural project: Stop by the South Lafourche Branch Library in Cut Off during the week of December 19 through December 23 and draw a picture of your family to include on the library’s large mural in celebration of multiculturalism, thanks to a grant by the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation.
Got an ugly Christmas sweater? Stop by the Lockport library: December 16 is National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. Got one lying around? Wear it when you visit the Lockport Branch Library let library staff snap your photo, and you could win the library’s Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest. Library visitors will choose the winner during the week of December 19 through December 23. The winner will win a small prize.
Write your letter to Santa at the Lockport library: Let Santa know what you want for Christmas by writing your annual letter to Santa during a special holiday program at 2 p.m. on December 19 at the Lockport Branch Library. Parents will be given an envelope and address so the children’s letters can be mailed to Santa. Children can also make a bag of reindeer food for Santa’s reindeer on Christmas Eve. Light refreshments will be served. Space is limited, so sign up at the library or call 532-3158 to register.
