Lafourche Parish Prepares For Storm

Mathews, LA – Lafourche Parish garbage pickup will be on a regular schedule for Saturday, October 5. Collection will happen early. Contractors have been asked to quickly pick up any remaining waste items early. Residents are asked to keep garbage at a minimum due to the storm.

Lafourche Parish is in a State Of Emergency as of 11am today, Friday, October 4, 2013.

Lafourche Parish issued a MANDATORY EVACUATION for south of the Leon Theriot Floodgates in Golden Meadow including Port Fourchon at 2pm, today, Friday, October 4.

The Raceland Recreation Center will open at 5pm as a Refuge of Last Resort for those from the mandatory evacuation area as well as residents living in areas subject to flooding and those who are in vulnerable buildings. Lafourche Parish Field Offices opened at 2pm for sandbag distribution. Residents can pick up 25 bags and/or fill their own for more.

Valentine Bridge is closed to vehicular traffic until further notice. South Lafourche High School Homecoming Game has been CANCELED for Friday night.

Central Lafourche High School and Thibodaux High School will have their games this weekend due to them being away games.

South Lafourche Homecoming Dance has been canceled for Saturday night.

South Lafourche Biddy Basketball has canceled all games this weekend. Lockport Town-Wide Garage Sale has been CANCELED (new)

Residents are reminded to respect all road closures and police barricades. Please be extremely cautious in the use of generators.
