Lafourche Parish Library announce upcoming December events

Percussionist Elizabeth Vidos, a.k.a. Lady Chops, is returning to the Lafourche Parish Public Library this holiday season with her one-woman drumming show. Enjoy her energetic, interactive holiday show at the Lockport Library, 720 Crescent Avenue, on Dec. 23, 2 p.m.; and the South Lafourche Library, 16241 E. Main Street, Cut Off on Dec. 23, 5 p.m.

An escape room experience is back at your library. Should you accept the challenge, you must discover clues, solve puzzles, and complete tasks to find Melvin the Elf and help to rescue Santa. Registration is recommended, but not required:

Gheens Library on Dec. 27 at 2 p.m.; Raceland Library on Dec. 27 at 4 p.m.; Larose Library on Dec. 30 at 11 a.m.; and Golden Meadow Library on Jan. 3 at 2 p.m.

Join library staff at the Lafourche Parish Public Library’s main branches for a journey aboard the Polar Express. BYOTC (Bring Your Own Train Car) and prepare to make stops along the way as we travel into the holiday season in our pajamas. This program will be held at the following library branches:

South Lafourche Branch on Dec. 7 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.; and Lockport Branch on Dec. 14 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Tell Santa what you’d like for Christmas and take a photo with St. Nick when he visits the South Lafourche Library in Cut Off from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 10.

Enjoy a special story hour with Mrs. Claus at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 12 at the Lockport Library. Santa will also be making his way to the Lockport Branch. Take photos will Santa from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on December 12.

Visit and take photos with special guest Mrs. Claus at story hour at 11 a.m. on Dec. 17 at the Raceland Library.

Santa will arrive at the Gheens Library at 4:45 p.m. on Dec. 17 for a special story hour and photos.

Mrs. Claus will visit the Larose Library to celebrate the holidays during a special story hour at 1 p.m. on Dec. 19. Don’t forget your cameras.

Children ages 5 to 13 can create watercolor Louisiana landscapes at 1 p.m. on Dec. 27 at the Lockport Library.

Explore coding with mini robots known as Ozobots throughout the day Dec. 9 through Dec. 12 at the Lockport Library.

Celebrate Computer Science Education Week while learning basic coding at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 at the Golden Meadow Library. Children and teens ages 11 to 17 can create lines of code to help the Grinch collect all the presents in Whoville.

People of all ages can take part in a fun coding craft at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 10 at the Gheens Library.

Learn to make GIFs at 4 p.m. on Dec. 12 at the Larose Library. This program is open to teens and adults.

Drop by the South Lafourche Library for an hour of coding beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 12.

Children and teens ages 5 to 17 can transform a paint stick and ruler into fun, functional holiday-themed crafts at 4:15 p.m. on Dec. 4 at the Larose Branch Library.

Children and teens can rock out to some holiday beats at 4 p.m. on Dec. 16 at a special Christmas dance at the Raceland Library.

Children and teens ages 5 to 17 can make a festive, pop-up Christmas card at 4 p.m. on Dec. 17 at the Larose Library.

Children can bring blankets, wear pajamas, and take a journey to the North Pole during a Polar Express P.J. Palooza at 4 p.m. on Dec. 19 at the Golden Meadow Library.

Join in for a Grinch-themed celebration and enjoy activities, crafts, and games at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 19 at the South Lafourche Library. Space is limited, so sign up early to reserve your spot.
