Lafourche Parish Council action taken on Aug. 9

The following is a rundown of the action taken by the Lafourche Parish Council at Tuesday's meeting. All members were present, and all votes were unanimous unless otherwise noted.

Action: Established that all parish executive department head positions are full-time positions and that one person cannot hold more than one position at a time. James Bourgeois and Michael Gros voted no.

Action: Approved a drainage agreement with B.A. Menge LLC.

Action: Approved a lease with Santo Lusco Jr. and Carmella Lusco for a public boat launch and canal use.

Action: Approved a drainage agreement with Ruth Guidroz Lasseigne, Mildred Guidroz and Eileen Gaudet Guidroz.

Action: Requested the administration to include a list of all parish positions and salaries in all 2017 budgets.

Action: Requested to hire a legislative internal auditor. Daniel Lorraine and Michael Gros voted no. James Bourgeois abstained from voting.

Action: Approved the proposal from Barowka and Bonura Engineers and Consultants for the elevation of four homes paid for by the Governor’s Office of Emergency Preparedness Project.

Action: Amended a resolution about who can sign Lafourche Parish Clerk of Court Office checks to include Annette Fontana and Gail Albert.

Action: Rescinded a previous approval of a memorandum of understanding with the American Red Cross for emergency preparation and response.

Action: Approved a new memorandum of understanding with the American Red Cross for emergency preparation and response.

Action: Accepted the bid from Xtreme Pump and Supply LLC for $39,250 for a new pump for the new Valentine pump station.

Action: Approved an amendment to the agreement with Barowka and Bonura Engineers and Consultants LLC for the elevation of four homes under the Governor’s Office of Emergency Preparedness Project.

Action: Approved an amendment to the agreement with the town of Golden Meadow for the skate park project.

Action: Approved an agreement with the town of Golden Meadow to provide money for the upgrade of lights, tennis courts and bathrooms in Oakridge Park.

Action: Approved an amendment to the agreement with the town of Golden Meadow to provide money to repair the swimming pool in town.

Action: Approved an agreement with the Archdiocese of New Orleans School Food and Nutrition Services of New Orleans Inc. to provide services to some Lafourche Parish Head Start locations.

Action: Approved a grant from the Louisiana Workforce Commission Social Services Contract-Strategies to Empower People.

Action: Amended the pay rate in a resolution that requested the Lafourche Parish District Attorney to approve the hiring of Fisher and Phillips LLC from $150 an hour to $185 an hour. Bo Melvin, Jerry Jones and Jerry Lafont voted no.
