Below is a rundown of action taken during Tuesday night’s Lafourche Parish Council meeting. All votes were unanimous unless otherwise noted.
ACTION: Presented a proclamation to the contest winners for the 2018 Underage Drinking Calendar Contest in Lafourche Parish schools. Councilman James Bourgeois was absent.
ACTION: Proclaimed May 6-12 Women’s Lung Health Week. Bourgeois was absent.
ACTION: Proclaimed the month of May National Water Safety Month. Bourgeois was absent.
ACTION: Approved an ordinance requiring a representative from the Department of Public Works to present a report at the first meeting of each month and to participate in a question-and-answer session with the council. Bourgeois and Daniel Lorraine voted against it.
ACTION: Approved an ordinance requiring a representative from the Finance Department to present a report and participate in a question-and-answer session with the council at the second meeting of the first month of each quarter. Bourgeois and Lorraine voted against it.
ACTION: Approved an ordinance ending the contract with James Cobb Jr., named in Resolution No. 18-046, which was rescinded by the council at the March 13 meeting. Councilmen James Bourgeois and Daniel Lorraine voted against it. Councilman Corey Perrillioux abstained.
ACTION: Approved a servitude agreement between Byron E. Talbot and Lafourche Parish.
ACTION: Approved an ordinance accepting the subdivision known as Highland Oaks, Phase 3, into the parish system.
ACTION: Approved an ordinance for a supplemental appropriation within the Operations and Maintenance Budget to increase the budget for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program contract with Lafourche Parish from the Louisiana Housing Corp.
ACTION: Approved a resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to clean the culverts and catch basins on La. 1 from West 189 Street to West 190 Street in Galliano.
ACTION: Appointed Thomas Arceneaux to the Drainage District No. 1 Board.
ACTION: Appointed Bryant Larose and Perry Falcon to the Fire Protection District No. 4 Board.
ACTION: Approved an agreement between Lafourche Parish, the state and FEMA for public assistance procedures for administrative costs.
ACTION: Accepted the quote of Lee Tractor Co. of $44,196 for the purchase of a new engine and labor for the Kobelco excavator for the Thibodaux field office.
ACTION: Ratified the appointment of Dave DeFelice to represent the LSU Alumni Association on the Lafourche Civil Service Board.
ACTION: Approved a resolution supporting a 2018 Bayou Community Foundation Grant application titled At Our Fingertips Project for resources at the Rev. Lloyd Wallace Community Center’s Beyond the Bell Program.
ACTION: Approved Amendment No. 2 to the agreement with Duplantis Design Group for new streetlight state permit acquisition.
ACTION: Approved an amendment to the scope of work for a Louisiana Government Assistance Program grant transferring $38,726 from the disposal of debris and waste materials at the field offices in Lockport and Thibodaux to the renovations of the main and old agricultural government buildings.
ACTION: Appointed Ricky Blanchard to the Fire Protection District No. 7 Board.
ACTION: Voted down the nomination of Rodney Doucet as parish administrator. Bourgeois and Lorraine voted in favor of the nomination.
ACTION: Approved a cooperative endeavor agreement between Lafourche Parish and Lafourche Drainage District No. 1 for reimbursement of the cost of culverts on Central Lafourche Drive. Lorraine voted against it.
