Here is a rundown of action taken Tuesday night by the Lafourche Parish Council. All votes were unanimous unless otherwise noted. Councilman Michael Gros was absent.
ACTION: Established two “3-Way Stop” signs on Waverly Road at Bently Drive in Thibodaux and provide for penalties for violations.
ACTION: Established “No Littering in or around the 40 Arpent Canal” with signs to be placed on both sides of the road 50 feet in front of the private bridge at the end of Supercharge Drive in Thibodaux.
ACTION: Approved an act of donation between Lafourche Parish Government and Lafourche Ambulance District No. 1 for the donation of one 2010 Chevrolet Express Cutaway 3500 Ambulance.
ACTION: Provided for a supplemental appropriation within the 2017 Operations and Maintenance Budget and Capital Budget to cover the additional cost of Amendment No. 2 to complete the appeal process of DFIRM with CB&I (Shaw) in the amount of $74,093.21.
ACTION: Requested the Lafourche Parish District Attorney to advise as to the penalty and the procedure to impose the penalty on Parish President James B. Cantrelle for being in non-compliance of the Lafourche Parish Home Rule Charter as it pertains to Section 3(C)5 – Appointment of Department Heads.
ACTION: Formed a committee composed of Luci Sposito, Jerry Jones, Jerry Lafont and Aaron Melvin to interview applicants for the appointment of the Lafourche Parish Registrar of Voters.
ACTION: Approved a cooperative endeavor agreement between Lafourche Parish Government and Lafourche Ambulance District No. 1 for one 2010 Chevrolet Express Cutaway 3500 Ambulance to be used by the Coroner’s Office.
ACTION: Supported the 2017 Bayou Community Foundation Grant application for the Books of the Future Project for the Beyond the Bell Program at the Reverend Lloyd Wallace Community Center.
ACTION: Approved the purchase of two 700 Gallon Trailer Mounted Jet Rodder Culvert Cleaners for the Department of Public Works.
ACTION: Approved the purchase of one E50 T4 Bobcat Compact Excavator in the amount of $56,132.40 for the Thibodaux Field Office.
ACTION: Approved a contract between Lafourche Parish Government and Picciola & Associates, Inc. for engineering services for the Golden Meadow Boat Launch Improvements project.
ACTION: Accepted the low bid of SBL Construction, LLC of $16,077.06 for the Golden Meadow Boat Launch Improvements project.
ACTION: Accepted the low bid of Huey Stockstill, LLC of $594,646 for the La. 308 Road and Drainage Improvements Project.
ACTION: Accepted the low bid of Scott Equipment Co., LLC of $53,000 for the purchase of one new Superior Broom to be used by the Department of Public Works.
ACTION: Approved a joint funding agreement between Lafourche Parish Government and the U.S. Department of the Interior Geological Survey.
ACTION: Approved Amendment No. 3 to the cooperative endeavor agreement between Lafourche Parish Government and the Louisiana Facility Planning and Control for the Company Canal Pump Station.
ACTION: Approved Amendment No. 1 to the cooperative endeavor agreement between Lafourche Parish Government and the State of Louisiana Facility Planning and Control for the South Lafourche Airport Corridor Project.
ACTION: Failed to approved the low quote of Golden Ranch Aviation, Inc. for annual aerial spraying. 4-3-1 with Jerry Jones, Luci Sposito and Corey Perrillioux against and Jerry Lafont abstaining. It failed because it did not get at least five votes.
ACTION: Passed a resolution opposing Senate Bill 179 proposed by State Senator J.P. Morrell, D-New Orleans.
