All branches and its Headquarters will be closed on December 4 for the library system’s annual parish-wide staff meeting. All locations will reopen on December 5 according to their regularly-scheduled hours.
Go wild this holiday season when educators bring several exotic animals to all branches in December. The Safari will begin at 1 p.m. on December 28 at the Lockport Branch, 720 Crescent Avenue; and at 4 p.m. at the South Lafourche Branch, 16241 E. Main Street, in Cut Off. This program is free and open to the public.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting several branches this holiday season. Stop by for photos and other activities. All programs are free and open to the public. Don’t forget your camera or smartphone.
Tell Santa what you’d like for Christmas and take a photo with him when he visits from 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. on December 1.
Mrs. Claus will take part in a special holiday story hour at 11 a.m. on December 5 at the Raceland Branch, 177 Recreation Drive. She will also be available for photos afterwards.
Enjoy a special holiday story hour when Mrs. Claus visits the Lockport Branch, at 10:30 a.m. on December 7. Mrs. Claus will be available after to take photos with families and will also be available for photos at 4 p.m.
Visit with Mrs. Claus and have your photo taken with her when she visits the Golden Meadow Branch, 1403 N. Bayou Drive, at 4:30 p.m. on December 19.
Join Mrs. Claus for a special holiday story hour at 1 p.m. on December 21 at the Larose Branch. She will also be available for photos afterwards.
Celebrate the holidays with Christmas caroling and a visit from Santa at 3 p.m. on December 21 at the Gheens Branch, 153 N. Leon Drive. Refreshments will be served.
Children can write letters to Santa throughout the day on December 5 at the Golden Meadow Branch, 1403 N. Bayou Drive. The library will mail the letters to Santa, in time for Christmas.
The Gheens Branch is beginning a new group for photography enthusiasts, Cajun Snappers. The group, open to adults, will discuss different aspects of photography, learning about lenses, lighting, posing, and more. Those interested can bring their camera gear or just participate in the discussions. The group will meet at 11 a.m. on December 6 and also on December 20.
Azalea Rivet will lead a free art workshop for adults at 4 p.m. on December 6 at the Raceland Branch.
Celebrate Lafourche’s French heritage with French Night at the Lockport Branch. Children and teens ages 7 to 17 can take part in a special story hour and French craft beginning at 5 p.m. on December 6 with library staff and local French teacher Nadia Talata. Space is limited, so sign up at the library or by calling 532-3158.
Children of all ages can write a letter to Santa and make a bag of reindeer food to leave for Santa’s reindeer on Christmas Eve at 4:30 p.m. on December 12 at the Lockport Library. Children will receive an envelope and address label for mailing their letter. Refreshments will be served.
Guest artist Azalea Rivet will lead a free art workshop for children at 4 p.m. on December 20 at the Raceland Library.
Get in the holiday spirit decorating Christmas cookies, at 5 p.m. on December 21 at the Larose Library.
