Lady of the Sea's CEO set to retire
After almost seven years on the job, Lady of the Sea General Hospital CEO Don Werner recently announced that he would retire this fall.
The timing comes as the hospital, and healthcare in general, face big changes with the advent of new policies brought upon by the passage of polices by President Barack Obama. Provisions of so called “Obamacare” have begun to take effect and are expected to be fully implemented by the end of 2014.
Hospital board chairman Ronald Callais noted that a search committee has been formed to identify and select the next individual to head the hospital.
“We have enough lead time to do a quality search to find the right individual to lead the hospital,” he said.
Ads will be placed in national medical publications as well as major newspapers and health websites, Callais said.
He also noted that the new administrator was expected to begin duties near the end of this year or in early 2014.
“Don has done a good job and we appreciate all his efforts and hard work to improve the hospital over the years. He will be difficult to replace,” Callais said.
