Jared Poche' will return to LSU for his senior year
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Coach Paul Mainieri says pitcher Jared Poche' will return to LSU for his senior season.
Poche' met with Mainieri Wednesday at Alex Box Stadium, and the left-hander told his coach that he will be a member of the Tigers' 2017 pitching staff.
Mainieri says LSU will benefit greatly from his presence both on the field and in the locker room.
Poche', a native of Lutcher, elected to return to LSU instead of signing a professional contract with the San Diego Padres, who selected him last month in the 14th round of the MLB Draft.
Poche' has a 27-9 career mark in three years at LSU, and he is the only pitcher in school history to win at least nine games in his first three seasons. He is 11 wins shy of tying Scott Schultz (38 wins, 1992-95) as LSU's all-time wins leader.
