Intermittent lane closures expected on LA 1 Leeville Bridge this week
Intermittent lane closures are scheduled to begin Monday, July 16, on LA 1 in Leeville from the LA 1 toll to the Leeville Bridge, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
Motorists should be on the lookout for flaggers in this area next week.
The $13.25 million construction project will widen the intersection where the tollbooth connector meets the Leeville Bridge. It will also consist of extending the expressway 400 feet north to connect future phases of elevated LA 1 towards Golden Meadow. Construction should be complete by February 2020.
The project begins Phase 2E of the state’s LA 1 Project, which will create an 18-mile elevated highway between Golden Meadow and Port Fourchon.
During closures, vehicles 18-feet wide or smaller will be able to pass through the construction zone. Drivers of vehicles over the width limit must call (225) 445-4018 to coordinate an oversized load through the construction zone.
LA 1 and the Leeville Bridge is the only route for hundreds of trucks that make their way daily to and from Port Fourchon.
