Holy Rosary Catholic School in Larose has new principal

Suzanne D. Troxclair, diocesan superintendent of Catholic Schools, has announced that Cathy Long has been appointed as the new principal of Holy Rosary Catholic School in Larose for the 2018-2019 school year.

Long earned a bachelor of science degree in education, a master’s degree in educational administration plus 30 hours, and a specialist in education degree in administration and supervision from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux.

During her career, she has served as an assistant professor at Nicholls State University, was a teacher in the East Baton Rouge Parish school district, and was the assistant principal at Cut Off Elementary School for seven years.

Long also owned and operated Educare Tutoring and Testing Center in Baton Rouge and served as the director of the Placement Testing Center at the Baton Rouge Community College.

She has been selected to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, and been recognized by the Louisiana Department of Education for her innovative team teaching techniques in East Baton Rouge Parish.

She and her husband Tim reside in Cut Off and are parishioners of Our Lady of the Rosary Church parish in Larose.

“We are very blessed to welcome Mrs. Cathy Long to the Holy Rosary family. Her commitment to both her faith and to the education of children will serve to foster a true collaborative effort for the formation of missionary disciples in this ever-important ministry of Catholic education in our diocese,” says Troxclair.
