Grand isle Redfish Rodeo set for Labor Day weekend
The 54th Annual Grand Isle Redfish Rodeo will be held Labor Day weekend, August 29, 30 and 31 at the Bridgeside Marina.
Weigh-in is from 12-noon till 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 7 a.m. till 12-noon on Sunday. Lunch will be served at 12-noon and dance begins at 8 p.m. Saturday. Lunch will be served at 12-noon Sunday with awards and auction beginning at 2 p.m.
The rodeo is celebrating its 18th year as Partners in Education with Grand Isle High School by honoring past graduates and faculty members.
Rodeo hours are 5 p.m. Thursday till noon Sunday. Only redfish caught during rodeo hours will be eligible. An angler can register one redfish per day caught in Louisiana waters. Fishing methods allowed include trolling, casting, drift fishing or still fishing. Fishing methods not allowed are trout lines, trawls, cast nets, gill nets and seines.
Tickets will be sold at rodeo headquarters on Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 12-noon for entrance and consolation prizes. A $20 rodeo ticket entitles the owner to enter one redfish daily (ticket must be presented when redfish is entered) and a chance of winning cash entrance prizes (ticket need not be present to win).
