Gheens Residents Awake to Find Teenage Burglar in Their Home
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a male teenager after he was caught burglarizing a home in Gheens. Nicholas Duhe, 17, of Raceland was arrested and charged with simple burglary following an investigation.
Just after 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, deputies responded to the 100 block of North Leon Drive in Gheens after residents awoke and discovered an unknown male subject, later identified as Nicholas Duhe, inside their home.
A resident yelled at the Duhe who then hid himself in a bathroom. The male resident armed himself with a firearm and eventually located Duhe, and escorted him to another part of the house in order to call the Sheriff's Office.
Duhe then grabbed the firearm, and a struggle ensued. At one point, the firearm discharged and the round shattered a glass door. Duhe eventually separated himself from the resident and fled the scene on foot.
Deputies began searching the area for the suspect, and located him walking along LA Highway 654 in Gheens. They identified him as Nicholas Duhe, and during questioning, he admitted to breaking into the home.
Duhe was charged with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he is being held in lieu of $10,000 bond as set by Judge F. Hugh Larose.
