Geauxpass Highway Robbery 2013

Geauxpass Highway Robbery 2013

Never thought I would write a letter to the editor, but what happen to me could happen to you. So I feel you should know what I’m up against.

On June 25, 2013, I received a large manila envelope from the Department of Transportation and Development out of New Orleans.

I received a Violator Summary stating that my violation was for $760 for 16 days. If I recall my math, $2.50 per day times 16 days equals $40.

Wait … it gets better! They claim the notices were sent to me on several occasions yet were returned as undeliverable, ever since 2011!  I found out about this on June 25, 2013.

They claim the notices were sent to my physical address. I’ve always received my mail at the post office.

For fine one I was charged $400, next fine $80, next fine $240 plus the $40 they say I own, equals $760. Pretty good profit!

As of June 25, 2013, I still haven’t seen any of the notices they said they sent.

I’m pleading to LA 1 Coalition (Mr. Henri Boulet), Senator Norby Chabert, Representative Jerry “Truck” Gisclair, Port Commission President Chett Chiasson, Parish President Charlotte Randolph, Councilman Daniel Lorraine, my employer Mr. Gary Chouest, or any lawyer to work Pro-Bono, to help me appeal these charges.

This is what I want to warn the public about. Why did it take 2 years to the date after I was charged these fines and fees that they found my correct address?

I would like for Vision Communications to please send them a phone book.

When I went to the Customer Service Center in Golden Meadow, I saw local people working there. Why did they wait so long? All they had to do was look in the phone book, which has my physical address with my phone number. This could have been taken care of 2 years ago.

But you know the answer as well as I do why they did it. I’m just wondering how many people will this happen to? You would think if they couldn’t find me, oh and by the way, I’ve been living in the same physical address and receiving my mail from the post office over 28 + years. If they had that much trouble finding me, they could’ve sent me a registered letter with UPS or any other carrier and I would’ve corrected it the week or day after they say it happened.

There’s more but thanks for taking time to read this, it could happen to you.

Waiting to hear when I will have my appeal hearing. Golden Meadow said it could take up to 2 months, so will they continue charging me fines?
